Framing up/ exhibition prep

This collection of images is recording the editing and decision making process of framing up work for the exhibition.
I had many prints to choose from and a few different frames and many, many possibilities. though a lot of the smaller decisions are subtle such as deciding to use the inner mounts and where to place them and in what order. Once Id decided on the main works to use it was easier to make those smaller decision.
I tried the inner mount frames on some of my other works to see how that would look. I eventually whittled it down to the 3 landscape/ structure box prints to be displayed in a continuous  line. I like the movement across the prints as they seem to move in a wave . I was also mindful of arranging them so the colours gradually change along the line. The use of the mount boards gives the feeling of looking through a series of windows. I chose to include the inner frames for two reasons; firstly as the 3 frames already separate the work it feels more consistent to separate them across the full length. secondly, the size of the individual frames mirrors the shape and size of the concertina structure sections so the work fits coherently together. The other framed work i chose for the exhibition is the box print with the gold map print over the top as I feel this is the piece that ties them all together as it contains elements of both methods and material of the other 2 works and the addition of the Erewash map anchors it to its location.

Below are visuals and notes on the framing decision making process ..

trying the inner frames on alternative prints. I really like the lace detail of these prints and really wanted to include this in the exhibition. however the gold map print seemed like a better choice as it was more important to include the map and the lace print works were not up to the same standard.

I like the idea of this work with the lace and the map printed on fabric, it ties in the lace collection . I like the blue of the lace as it looks like water, the map symbolises the routes of industry, the canal and the viaduct, the routes that the produce of the town would be taken to trade. the map is in gold to sybolise the the value of this trade and these routes to the wealth of the town
