TEXTILE DRAGONFLY

More experiments with materials, this time making a 3D, textile dragonfly.
I cut out a simple body shape from hessian, stitched, turned inside out and filled with the remaining, shredded material, with a small length of wire in the tail to make it moveable.
I shaped legs from wire and stitched over them to give some texture.
I made some wings from the wire and covered them with fabric and stitched in some detail.
I later wet areas of the wings and dripped on some blue illustrator's ink. it made a really nice water colour effect.
The body of the dragonfly was not really refined and felt too chunky in size. Id prefer the body to be made from a more solid material.
I did like the wire framed wing and the ink dye effect on the fabric. Id like to experiment with different
fabrics, paper and threads to develop the wire wing idea further.
