Art Nouveau

"Art Nouveau, ornamental style of art that flourished between about 1890 and 1910 throughout Europe and the United States. Art Nouveau is characterized by its use of a long, sinuous, organic line and was employed most often in architectureinterior designjewelry and glass design, posters, and illustration. It was a deliberate attempt to create a new style, free of the imitative historicism that dominated much of 19th-century art and design."

William Morris wall paper design
Thinking about the leaf motif I've been working in with various techniques, I wanted find a nice art nouveau example, this is a really lovely illustrative leaf pattern by Morris. the colours are earthy and rich, its a really beautiful design, the forms look similar to this fungus that I was looking at as part of my autumn research.

The intricate and organic shape of this window design resembles some of the wing forms I've been creating with paper cuts. This tiffany lamp, typical of art nouvea design and features a dragonfly motif.

Dragonfly brooch
Another dragonfly, this brooch design features a woman/ insect and is similar to the fairy theme I've been looking at for my dragonfly.
