Sound editing and image editing
In relation to story telling the editing of history the editing of our lives via image and Internet. Subliminal/ edited heritage/ privilege.
I recorded the voice of a preacher man outside the Victoria Centre, you can hear the traffic in the background, put it over the image of the ruined Abbey window.
Thinking about the video we saw where the artist was combining commentary with images that later became displaced.
I like it to express the idea that history is displaced. The contrast between the audio and the visual. Though the audio was recent it both fits with the image but feels too aggressive and noisey for this peaceful location yet his message is even older than than The Abbey. A building created for worship which was then renovated by profits from slavery, a contrast be of man's highest endeavours and greatest failings.
