Glass paint

The Idea was to recreate the blue and white ink drawings onto actual plate. Online orders are a bit slow as its getting on for Christmas so while waiting for the porcupine paint to arrive I fished out these old glass paints from my supply cupboard.
I tested them on the back of a plate.
I used the silhouettes of Lady Lamb as I've done a few ink drawings and prints of her.

I traced the image onto the plate in pencil.

I did a white base and dripped in spots of blue while still wet. It's not the same as the ink as these paints are quite thick and lumpy.

The effect is interesting but not close enough to the ink drawings to be meaningful.

I feel that the ink drawings are already abstracted from the willow pattern but still recognisable. I will try again with the porcelain paint and hopefully get a better result.

UPDATED:

The ceramic paint finally arrived so I tried this ant design. I couldn't get the same effect as I got with the ink drawing so it was disappointing, also I don't think the colour works on the already colourful vintage plates.
The image isn't defined enough in the medium. It could be better on white plates but I have now established a connection with these plates and want them to be the canvass of my work.
