The college creative courses are running a collaboration with Nottingham green hustle festival. They have invited students to create a green zine in theme with the event.
My initial ideas to contribute are acorn images and a piece of writing/ instructions about collecting acorns to grow into trees . Below are some images of acorns I sprouted at home along with some web research.
Below are some images I took on a recent visit to Sherwood forest Nottingham's most famous green space that is home to some of the countries most ancient oak trees including the iconic major oak.Below, my son in front of the major oak enjoying our research trip
Below, An example of the green man who is dressed in oak leaves and features heavily in English folklore as a guardian of the forest.Below are some sketches I made of acorns in preparation for making a lino print
When Ive cut a lino the quickest way to test it is a quick graphite rubbing. I made 3 different stamps. that can all be used together to create multiple designs.
Below is an image of graphite rubbings of the lino cut over a contact print of some net fabric from the last project. I like the texture that shows through from the fabric and the green colour that shows through underneath.
I built up the design by overlapping and filling in all the spaces with different parts of the lino
Its a possible contribution to the green zine though I have a few other ideas to try as well.
