The Burry Man
This custon is facination. A Scottish village celebrates this tradition by choosing a man who must be born in the village of south Queensferry to be dressed head to toe in burdock burrs which are very spiky buds he then parades through the village ( with assistance) and is welcomed with much joy and drinks of whiskey as he is believed to spread good fortune and ward off evil.
Its roots are in pagan beliefs and hes symbol of fertility and rebirth, sharing a similarity to the green man.
