Spring Holiday @filey

A beautiful little break in Filey on the Yorkshire coast gave me opoertunity to do some beach combing and general restorative outdoor activities, noticing the changes of spring, tree blossom, long walks, local folk lore and just a change of scene to help the flow of ideas.

I gathered quite a bit of drift wood and began wrapping with brightly coloured silk thread left over from another project.

It has the look of celebration, bunting flags over the bleached out wood. Creating a costume to clothe its strange shape.

Thinking how the blossom dresses the branches in spring time.

A dead sea bird washed up on the beach. A sad sight yet a chance to see some close up detail of a beautiful creature. Nature can seem.very cruel and a lot of folkloric tales seek to explain this as a way to find acceptance but also as tales of caution.

Below ; local folklore about the natural landscape, the dramatic Filey brightly is thr source of much local history, ghost tales and folklore.

Below: beach treasures. Willow pattern China fragment. Coal / jet and drift wood.

A collection of images I took..telling an imagined gothic tale.
