MONO PRINTING
WITH LEAVES

Arranging leaf shapes onto printing plates.I applied a black background ink and red ink directly to the bamboo leaves and stalk and put it through the printing press.
The empty plate with the shadow of the leaf imprints looks like an x-ray.

The print turned out great! beginners luck!
I really like how it picks up the leaves that are over the edge of the plate.
the colour, shape and bamboo give this print an Japanese style. I'm really happy with the result and see many possibilities for this process.

this monotone print is the second press with the leaves removed and placed next to the plate, it again has an x-ray quality to it and totally different feel to the original print.

I applied this very juicy leaf to an inked plate.
It released a lot of fluid under the press and distorted the print and gave quite an unusual effect.

I pressed the leave again without the plate and it gave a  truer image.
