VACUME FORMING

Experimenting with with clay, leaf vines and cut foam to create a plastic mould.

Taking forms from the ink drawing of the teapot and vines

i cut a clay tile and decorated it with real leaves and a stylised leaf design cut into the clay.

I used a hot wire to cut shapes from Styrofoam,  leaf shapes and the handle and spout shapes from my teapot drawing.

I placed them all on a board and into the vac form machine.

The end result was not fully successful as the foam was stuck inside the plastic. The clay tile with leaf shapes is quite nice , a bit more subtle than I'd hoped. Id need to go heavier on the detail to get more definition. I'm interested to see how it performs as a mould for plaster,

The clay tile will be fired and used as a sample for experimenting with glazes.
