I wanted to make a smaller version of the dragon fly sculpture as I didn't like the scale of the other one plus it had some damage.
I do like the natural clay effect.I want to show this as being a sculpture,a man made thing, using raw clay and adding a human mask. To humanise it into a grotesque fairy, but for it to be obviously fabricated.
I pinned it with a wooden stuck to imitate the displayed insects from my research
The wings are made from a wire frame and thinly sliced straps of masking tape to create detail within the wing.

It's also got a raw unfinished aspect to it creating the overall prototype nature of the sculpture.
I collected some gorgeously rich green moss from St Marys church to use as a base for the sculpture. I like the combination of natural elements and the colourway, also to have the living along side the fake.
