Making the curious cabinet

planning the objects and tryingnout different arrangements. I made a plan in full scale size with measurements to take to the wood workshop.

Hhe techian kindly made the outer frame to my measurements.

I measured out the smaller strups of wood and cut them to side for the inner sections.
I sanded them down by hand and glued them in place with strong wood glue. Once dried I gave it 2 coats of wood stain to achive an antique wood look.

I cut the smaller wooden pieces myself. It was only my second time in the workshop so I got guidance from the technician to help me work safely.

I played around with the arrangement of the objects and even considered just filling the sections with deconstructed parts of the dragon fly sculpture.  I decided against thas as I wanted this to be a display of a few elements. I the cabinet was measured for my little treasures.

I used pen and ink to make the titles to be in keeeping with the antique aesthetic I'm trying to achieve.
