Merry go round

These statues in the church represent the royal arms,The Lion represents England, The unicorn represent Scotland. They date from the 1705 and were originally situated on the organ. they were place by the main doors in the 1930s.
very unusual to be found in a church, and have always stood out to me so I defiantly want to feature them within this project.
they are quite stylised and garish they remind me of carousel horses, especially the gold twisty horn of the unicorn and the bright colours.
A lot of the graves are of Victorian period and the carousel theme fits into that time era.

I like that these hoses all have names. There are many names around the church and church yard so its all tying together in a strange way to me. I think when you read a name upon an object it fires the imagination .

Sketch/ idea

I like this image of these Victorian women on the merry, it brings to life my imaginings about the women who are buried at St Marys and the look of the unicorn statue within the church, the elaborate design reminds me of a merry go round horse.
