Artist research: Assemblage/ textile ;Karin Van der Linden

"Cloudy Day"

"Tiny House"

"Little Ballerina"

I found German assemblage and textile artist Karin Van Der Linden on Instagram. Her work "Cloudy day" features small, old framed photographs of clouds along with cut up, lose photographs of clouds pinned to an old fashioned looking child's dress or idea / outline of a dress. It features a lot of elements I've Been playing with, photography, clothing, femininity to conjure up ideas of the past.

A lot of her work is based on personal family memories of her mother and grandmother.

Such as the below image of a work along with the family photograph that inspired it.

A lot of feminine imagery about mother hood and child bearing and rearing also feature in her work.

I think its a very tactile and evocative approach to making very personal art works that also very relatable.
