Natural history museum

Just a few images from a recent trip to Londons Natural History Museum.

Nature is so full of magic and serves as an eternal source of inspiration for creatives. As so much folklore is based around animals, and the natural world this seemed a good place for some research.

A bat's skeleton, a birds wing , a monkey and a locust with a mouse. Quite macabre round up of animal exhibits that caught my eye.
The huge collection of rocks, minerals and precious stones was extraordinary and my favourite part. You can see how such beautiful colour combinations and textures of these objects can be so awe inspiring and the basis for many tales. A lot of ritual based around crystals and plants form the basis of many folk customs and medicines.
Beautiful coral carved into.jewlry. green coral. A stone carving from the museum wall. Makes me think of the many folk tales around the sea, an underwater world with its own fauna and flora, mermaids and selfies and sirens.
