Refining my eggshell cyanotype process.
This time I was more careful with the chemical application in order to keep the outside of the egg clean.
I used fresh leaves and flowers as they are more maluable than dried flowers.
I left them out in the sun for an hour- double the time as today it was cloudy.
Securing them with clear tape again to get a good contact however a bit tricky so caution is needed no to damage the shells and it sometimes leaves tape marks behind. Not sure how or if I need to rectify this as I'm not trying to achieve perfection, the random marks are quite nice and make it feel more natural.
I'm very encouraged by these results. There are some very clear images as well as more abstract. I prefer to use white eggs as the colour combination is much cleaner and is also similar to Willie pattern China, a natural alternative.
I plan to make more of these. To really refine the process and try different imagery inside.
I like the delicately and symbolism of thus process. All found natural objects.
I think it has a magical feel to it.
I'm considering coating the outside of the eggs with gold leaf to see how it would look.
