Marisol pop art meets folk art

I think these works are so intriguing. Marisol was know as part of the pop art movement with her sculptures of mixed media, carved wooden blocks, combined with photographs and hand painted detail,
The results are strange  and crude yet refined. They are quite illustrative and remind me of physical illustrations from folk/ fairy stories.
Along with theme of " the family" and "the party" they seem to mix lots of eras together to create something that is other. Much like a lot of folk costume, as a way of  disguising a person to create  strange and timeless characters.
